Neurocirurgia HMASP se destaca no Congresso dos EUA

São Paulo (SP) - O chefe de neurocirurgia do Hospital Militar da Área de São Paulo (HMASP), capitão médico Paulo Porto, participou de um grande congresso sobre neurocirurgia, organizado pela American Association of Neurological Surgeons - AANS: Annual Scientific Meeting 2019, realizado em San Diego, Califórnia, Estados Unidos da América (EUA).

O Capitão Paulo Porto, o único brasileiro a falar, falou sobre a Artroplastia Cervical na população militar. Durante sua apresentação, estiveram presentes à mesa o Prof. Dr. Yi Lu, chefe da disciplina de cirurgia da coluna vertebral em Harvard; o Prof. Dr. J Uribe, chefe da disciplina de cirurgia da coluna vertebral no Barrow Neurological Institute em Phoenix; e o Prof. Dr. Michael Wang, chefe da disciplina de cirurgia da coluna vertebral na Universidade de Miami. Vale a pena mencionar que estes médicos são os maiores especialistas em cirurgia de coluna do mundo. Entre a platéia, havia vários médicos de destaque, criadores de técnicas que atualmente beneficiam milhões de pacientes.

São Paulo (SP) - The head of neurosurgery at the São Paulo Area Military Hospital (HMASP), Medical Captain Paulo Porto, participated in a major congress on neurosurgery, organized by the American Association of Neurological Surgeons - AANS: Annual Scientific Meeting 2019, held in San Diego, California, United States of America (USA).

Captain Paulo Porto, the only Brazilian to speak, spoke about Cervical Arthroplasty in the military population. During his presentation, Prof. Dr. Yi Lu, head of the spine surgery discipline at Harvard; Prof. Dr. J Uribe, head of the spine surgery discipline at Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix; and Prof. Dr. Michael Wang, head of the spine surgery discipline at the University of Miami were present at the table. It is worth mentioning that these doctors are the greatest specialists in spine surgery in the world. Novas tecnologias em neurocirurgia

A neurocirurgia sempre esteve na vanguarda da incorporação de novas tecnologias, por causa da delicadeza com que o cérebro deve ser sempre tratado.

A neurocirurgia sempre esteve na vanguarda da incorporação de novas tecnologias, por causa da delicadeza com que o cérebro deve ser sempre tratado. Cirurgias minimamente invasivas para tumores, tratamento endovascular para aneurismas (sem necessidade de abrir o crânio), técnicas de estimulação cerebral para o tratamento da dor, Parkinson, etc., já são realidades incorporadas. O Senador McCain foi submetido a uma cirurgia neurológica minimamente invasiva, realizada através da pálpebra; contra a recomendação de seus médicos, ele retornou ao Senado em poucos dias.

Como em outras especialidades médicas, o robô tem sido usado recentemente em neurocirurgia. É capaz de reduzir pelo menos pela metade o tempo cirúrgico de alguns procedimentos. Não é um substituto para o cirurgião, mas uma tecnologia agregada.

Novas tecnologias

Muitos dos procedimentos em neurocirurgia incluem a remoção ou lesão de tumores, nódulos, cistos, etc. Recentemente, a ablação a laser de tumores e outras lesões cerebrais tem sido introduzida. A tecnologia, que inclui somente uma perfuração craniana, incorpora a precisão da neurocirurgia, a medição em tempo real da temperatura do cérebro e a possibilidade de observar em tempo real a lesão que está sendo realizada, transferindo maior segurança ao procedimento.

Outra tecnologia em desenvolvimento é o uso de ultra-som focado em neurocirurgia. Esta é uma tecnologia totalmente não invasiva, sem nenhum corte, e que é capaz de realizar lesões bem localizadas. Ela ainda tem um caminho a percorrer, mas está lá para ficar, e seu desenvolvimento adequado pode mudar muitos paradigmas.

Muitas vezes, a medicina e a sociedade incorporam tardiamente tecnologias existentes, como o GPS, por exemplo, que já estava disponível há muito tempo na esfera militar. Mas com o acesso cada vez mais fácil às novas tecnologias, vamos vê-las implementadas na medicina cada vez mais rapidamente.
